Landon and I have been super busy this year. I had my foot surgery in December and was out of commission for about a month. We have taken some trips since then and my photography business has picked up. We are both running around like chickens with our heads cut off, but we are having fun doing it. I'm going to post some pics and I'll give you stories to go along with them. This will be my shortened version of all our events. :-) Enjoy!
First I am going to start off with this picture. Landon is the most helpful man I know. He pulls over for every single woman he sees on the side of the road with a flat tire. He will do this no matter what attire he is in. This lady and her daughter were stranded on the side of I-15 with a flat. This poor lady had tears of gratitude as Landon willing got greased and dirty fixing her flat. She told Landon that she was on the way to the hospital to visit her dying husband and had no one else to call to help her. She said he was her angel. : ) I am so glad I have a husband who cares so much for others and is always willing to help those in need.
In December we started some more reconstruction on our home. We were preparing the kitchen for tile and the dining room for it's transformation into a second bedroom upstairs. Well, sadly, our house looks just like this still today. Landon worked super hard to pull up all the flooring in the kitchen trying to prep it for tile and we bought all the material we needed for the bedroom. Now we just need to find the help to do it all. My step dad was going to come help, but has been super busy with jobs. We have had some very good friends and people from our ward offer their assistance, which we are grateful for. Now we just need the time to get it all done. I can laugh about this now, but at the time it wasn't funny at all. Landon had been pulling up the kitchen floor one night when I got home. When I walked in he said, "babe, don't go in the laundry room for a few days." Suprisingly enough I didn't. It had been a rough day at work and I figured whatever was in there wasn't going to make matters any better so I stayed clear for about three days. Eventually I had to do laundry. I walked in to find our whole entire laundry room covered with about 2 inches of saw dust. It was all over the dirty clothes, the clean clothes, the washer and dryer, the decorations, the shelves.....EVERYTHING! I took a deep breath and held in the scream I wanted so badly to let out. We spent about two and a half hours getting everything cleaned up. There is still some saw dust that will fall through now and then, but nothing as bad as that. So now we have a kitchen floor that is just 4x8 boards giving us the construction, rustic look. The best part about our house right now is that in this 90+ degree weather we have been having we are enjoying our oven a home without central air or a swamp cooler. We are relying on our trusty window cooler we have strutegically placed in our bedroom. It has become the only room in the house we reside in. On the list of things to do with the house: get central air, get new windows so that the cold air will actually stay in, new insullation in the attic, tile kitchen floor, tranform dining room into bedroom, put a patio in the backyard now that we have torn out our deck, get some shrubs and flower to bring better curb appeal....the list could go on, but those are the basics as of now. I'll keep you posted with later renovations.
I used to go the Festival of Trees every year to help my Grandma Larkin with the Candy section. I hadn't been in a few years. So, this last December I asked Brittney and Debbie to come with me. It was a fun girls night out. We got to see the tree that my dad's side of the family put together. They did a great job! The Festival is for such a great cause. Going to the Festival helps put me in the right mind set for the Holidays. It reminds me what is most important : )
