First Adventure On New Four Wheeler

Yesterday Landon and I had the day off together, FINALLY! Our schedules have been opposite this whole month! So, since we only had yesterday to get out and enjoy some time together we thought no better way than to take out the new four wheeler on a ride. We packed up the Escape' (like Dorey says it on Finding Nemo lol) and the trailer and headed out. Since we weren't going to be able to stay over night somewhere we decided to keep it close. We went to a nonexistant town called Delle. I say nonexistant, but it might as well be. I think the only thing it consists of is one gas station. On our way out there we had a little accident. One of the wheel covers on the trailer snapped off and flew on the side of the highway. That was mishap number one. Once we got out there we had a great time. The weather was perfect. It was a little overcast so it wasn't so scorching hot and there were only about 6 other people there. I have never really rode four wheelers on open land like that. I have always grown up riding on 4x4's in the mountains. This was a nice change. There were some fun hills we played on and then we went out to some open ground and raced each other. We wanted to test the four wheeler to see how it matched up to Landon's dirt bike. I tell ya what, it is VERY quick! It stayed pretty close to him. After me winning nearly every race ;-) we headed back to the car to head out. We stopped at a gas station to clean off the bikes then went to visit Landon's dad and step mom since Delle is so close to them. As we were on our way to their house, after washing the bikes off, we had our second mishap. As we were just going into Landon's dad's neighborhood Landon's dirt bike flew off the trailer. We think it was a combination of the wetness from the wash down and some tie downs we had bought from Walmart. The bike was still hanging on by two of our good tie downs by the time we saw it dragging. It was dragging for a total of about 5-10 seconds, so not too long thank goodness. Luckily enough there wasn't anything broken on the dirt bike. It has a few scratches on the plastics, seat and handle bars, but there's no serious damage. Needless to say, we were frightened to make the journey home after that. Landon went and bought some more of the better tie downs we had gotten from Steadman's and triple strapped them both down. The dirt bike was tied down so tight it looked about 2 feet shorter than it normally was. Beside my extreme anxiety, we made it home okay. So, one fun first day of riding with some very interesting turns along the way. We hope that our next riding trip won't consist of any of those intersting turns. We got some fun pics, but I will have to put them up later.

Easter was here and gone so fast this year. Landon spent the entire Easter weekend with bronchitus. No fun. He stayed home and slept all through Easter Day while I went to his sister's for dinner. We had some scrumchious ham, salad, funeral potatoes, Deb's famous pretzel salad, rolls, and angel food cake for dessert. Thanks Steve and Heather for hosting! :-)

Just Another Day in Paradise

Have you ever had one of those days that you thought to yourself "wow, I am so blessed". Today was one of those days. Nothing super big or special happened. I just felt overwhelmed with happiness realizing all the blessings that I have in my life.

Landon and I both had the day off today, which in the near future won't be as often on Sundays. We both got to sleep in this morning, wake up to a beautifully sunny day and watch conference together. I couldn't help but feel the spirit during this conference. All those men are so close to our Heavenly Father. They all always have such inspiring things to share with us that I hold in my heart. Still being so new to the Gospel I try to soak in all their knowledge they have to share. It's crazy to think that it's already been almost 4 years since the first time I not only watched conference, but attended a live session at the Conference Center. An even crazier thing to think about is how far I have come since those far away four years that have passed. In the same year that I had made my life altering decision to bring the Gospel in my life, I met the man I would marry the next year to come in the house of the Lord. In between sessions today we watched a special they had on for the dedication of the Draper Temple. It's in fathomable to think of all the time and effort that goes into each of our temples. Each room has such equisite detail. The feeling you have while in the temple is indescribable. There is no beauty as powerful as a Celestial room in our temples.

After watching the 179th General Conference we made a scrumchious dinner. We took advantage of the sunny weather and barbequed some steaks. After eating we watched one of our new fav flicks, Marley and Me. Being parents to our own lab we could relate to a lot of the things they went through. Watching that movie is like seeing us ten years down the road....married (done), buy a house (done), get a puppy (done), have three kids (that's the plan), possibly move around depending on Landon's jobs, and enjoying the family life. For those of you who haven't seen the movie I won't ruin the ending for you. All I will say is that I soiled my pillow with streaming tears. Landon even let a few drop. We have a soft spot when it comes to love for dogs. :-) Mia has been the closest thing to a daughter for us. We don't feel like we are waiting to start a family. With her we feel like we've already started ours. Eventually she'll have to share her territory with some little ones, which I'm sure she'll welcome with lots of slobbery kisses. :-)

Putting an end to our day in paradise we are going to get in some good cuddling, read a little and hit the sack. Guess we better get to it!

Happy Bday Daddio!

We celebrated my dad's bday on Sunday. We had my Korey, my dad, audrey and her kids over for a big bbq. We had briefly met some of Audrey's kids, but hadn't had a chance to actually hang out with them. It ended up being a lot of fun. We got to eat, mingle and play some Texas Hold Em'. I'm sure we'll all get together again to party hardy sometime soon. Her kids are between the ages of 15-23. Her oldest is married and has a daughter. They couldn't make it to the shindig so we still haven't met them. We all see how happy my dad and Audre are together so I think we're all on the same boat when we say we hope we'll see each other more and more as this new family evolves. We'll see what happens. :-)

Twilight AGAIN!

Yes, you heard it right. I am reading Twilight for the third time now. LOL We rented the movie last week so that Landon could see it and it just reminded me how much different it is from the book. I had to start reading it again so that I could refresh my mind with the real love story of Bella and Edward. I really hope the new director brings more of the book into this next movie. I could critique the movie all day, but instead I'll just say it was a good movie if I think of it as nothing to do with Twilight, just another movie. As far as Landon goes, he actually liked it. He thought it wasn't as bad as I was saying it was, but that's because he hasn't read the book. ;-) Just thought I would share a little bit of my continued Twilight addiction.

Boys & Their Toys

Landon and I have decided that we are going to have as much fun this summer as we possibly can. This will most likely be our last summer we have together before we start a family so we want to make it exciting and special. In helping with all that fun having we got ourselves a new toy. We bought a 400ex four wheeler. Landon has a dirt bike that he rides so this toy will be more for me so we can go out riding together. We have our first trip planned in May to break it in. We are really excited about it. It will be a fun thing for us to enjoy together. Plus, we've worked so hard this past year and half we figured we deserved it. ;-) That's how we are justifying it. lol We will still be hitting the trails on our mountain bikes too of course. Those will be easier to get our and ride so we'll most likely be on those every other day like we were last year. Those were one of the best purchases we ever made. It was a lot of fun to get out together and do something we both really enjoyed. We would go on the same trail each time and actually got really good at it. We could get through the whole thing in about a half hour. We had a little fall back last year that stopped our bike riding earlier than we had hoped. Not only did Landon get sick, but I hurt my foot. Unfortunately my foot still isn't 100% healed and I'm going to have to have surgery on it by the end of this year. I told my doc I won't do the surgery before summer because I am bound and determined to get out and enjoy myself, not sit inside for the first few months of summer as a gimp. lol

One more summer.....tons of fun........Mtn bike and 4wheel riding..........bring on the sun!

A walk down memory lane

I realize I have completely neglected our blog. I will be honest with you and tell you that it's all because of my new love for facebook. But, I told myself that I would not give up on the blog. Facebook is fun for quick little notes, but our blog lets me get on and tell stories of our lives in detail, to keep everyone up to speed and to be somewhat of a journal for us.

Anywho.....enough about why I have not been posting.....here is a new post.

A couple weeks ago Landon and I did one of our favorite things on a Sunday afternoon. We packed up some snacks and some nice cold beverages and went on a drive. We usually stick around close to here, but seeing that we always stick around his hometown I told him I wanted to go to mine. You better believe it! I was back in ol' WJ! I forget how much I love it there. I still don't think I would want to live there again just because it could never be the same for me, but I do love going back and reminising. I took Landon to my house that I grew up in. This was the house that my mom and dad lived in before they got divorced so it's the last place we remember them together. It was so crazy even going through the neighborhood and seeing how much things have changed. A lot of the tree's were much bigger than I remembered. There are only a little more than half the same people still living on my circle. Then we got to my house. We had this pine tree that my mom got from my great grandma's house that we used as our Xmas tree then planted in the front yard. When we planted it it was only about 5 or 6 feet tall. It is now about 10-12 feet tall! The people who moved into our house don't take very good care of it unfortunately. The front yard was a mess because they kept there dogs locked up there. And the back yard they had a big pigeon coupe that had a rancid smell. They had actually gotten rid of the pigeon coupe it looked like. It's was crazy how I remember everything being so much bigger. I remember thinking our backyard was huge, when in all reality it wasn't that big at all. While we were sitting there looking at my old house I decided to see if our old neighbors who lived next door still lived there. Just as I was texting one of their kids their dad walked out to our car. They still lived there! It was so exciting to see all of them! This family was like our second family. We all grew up together. They had a daughter that was my youngest brothers age, one that was my second youngest bro's age, a son in between them and a son my age. Me and Scottie were best buds. We were connected at the hip until about 6th grade. At that point I think I realized that I needed to have more friends that were girls. It was so fun to get to see them all grown up! The last time I had seen them was at our wedding, but before that it had been about 6 years! They of course invited us in and we all sat and talked about old times. I love sharing experiences like that with Landon. I think that those sort of experiences help us learn more about each other. He got to learn a lot about how growing up was for me there on Mansfield Circle. And got to learn of one of the saddest days of my life when I had to leave it all behind. :-( My mom hasn't lived in a house for longer than a few years after that house so no other house she had ever felt like home like this one did. I'm sure none of them really will. The next house Landon and I move into we want it to be our last so that our kids can always come back to the house they grew up in. Building a strong foundation with our home is something that is very important to us; knowing our kids can always come back to their childhood home is priceless.

If any of you have the opportunity to go back to your childhood homes I'd recommend doing so. :) It reminds you how important all the little things are in life.
